WORKSHOP | Ring Profiles Explained

A ring profile refers to the cross-sectional shape of a ring, which is what you would see if you cut through the ring band. This shape has a significant impact on the ring's appearance, comfort, and overall style when worn on the finger.

Traditional Court Profile

A traditional court-shaped ring is a wedding band with a flat top and bottom, and a rounded interior and exterior. This style is considered the most classic for wedding bands.

Soft Court Profile

A soft court ring is a band profile with a slightly flat top, rounded edges, and a curved interior.

Premium Court Profile

A premium court-shaped ring is a traditional wedding band featuring a rounded interior and exterior, as well as flat top and bottom edges. It is designed for comfort and is one of the most popular styles of wedding rings.

Flat Court Profile

A flat court ring has a flat outer surface and a rounded inner surface. This design is a cross between a flat ring and a court-shaped ring.

Rounded Profile

The inside and outside edges are curved more than any other profile type. If you were to slice the band, the profile would be close to or exactly a circle. It can also be referred to as a "comfort fit" profile.

D-Shape Profile

This traditional profile is popular with both men and women. It's Flat on the inside and curved on the outside, forming the shape of the letter 'D' when viewed in a cross-section.

Flat Profile

A flat-shaped ris has a flat profile on both the inside and outside. It is also known as a pipe-cut ring.

Knife Edge Profile

The band of this ring has a sharp edge like a sword. The edge can be partial or complete and bordered by accent gemstones on either/or side.
